THE TRIAD OF SCHOOL LEARNING
CURRICULUM:

“Curriculum” is a Latin word which means “the Course of a Race” Which Race? Race against whom?

The Curriculum in India is based on the idea of “Subjects”!

The Curriculum do not allow the child to dwell deep on any of the concepts. NCERT system clearly mentions that the child will be exposed to the concepts on a peripheral level. For a deeper understanding, it lies in the hands of Teachers in how they deliver it through various teaching strategies.

The school system should not be a “Factory Model”. Of course, children are taught in batches, age wise. The subjects are strictly segregated and activity periods are restricted in time by the system of “Periods”. There is a pressure on the Educators to necessarily expose the children to a vast range of topics. Teachers face a very practical issue mostly because they are pressed for time to complete the portions. Every teacher spends approximately 40 minutes with a group of students, in a period. It leaves very title time and resources for the teachers to cater to the unique interests and aptitudes of each child. There is little room for any discussion outside the curriculum. Fewer children get an opportunity to pursue their passions and aptitude.

Do all schools identify the Talent of a Child? Schools should provide resources to identify the strength of the child nurture it and bring them to spotlight.

Parents also should stop seeing schools as a single point of learning and step up to identify the unique talents of their children.
